Driving
Men vs. Women

There used to be a belief that women were bad drivers, at least worse than men. I guess I could see where that concept arose based on the habits of the times. This would likely be 30-40 years ago when there were fewer women drivers mostly due to the fact that there were fewer women in the workplace. Their travels may have been back and forth to stores or bringing the kids to school, assuming they had two cars (which was unlikely). If they went out, the man would drive. I imagine there are statistics that might support the premise regarding the ability of women drivers, but that’s water under the bridge.

In today’s world, there is no difference in driving based on gender. Any difference would be more likely due to personality since (too many) women have unfortunately gravitated to the alpha stance. For lack of a better comparison, they have become more like men when it comes to driving and, for the most part, many other facets of living.

This is a sad dynamic for the gender. Not that the transition from nurturing to competitiveness and, in their minds, equality is bad for the world. It changes the composition of the gender. I don’t know if it has surfaced yet, but I’d venture to guess that the mortality of women will continue to decrease and, at some point approach or equal the life span of a man. Why do I say this? Think about it. A less stressful lifestyle has been traded in for a more stressful one for many women, including one of the toughest and that is being a single mother. Blood pressure, heart attacks, and a variety of other physical ailments are now more commonplace among females. Add to that the fact that there has been an exponential increase in women driving and therefore fatalities involving them at a younger age and you have the evolving dynamic of a decreased life span.

So, from the Driving blog standpoint, there is an equal number of idiot drivers on both sides of the gender line.
